SEASONAL RESTAURANTS

As we end our High Season here on Cape Cod there are several restaurants that should be considered to taste, experience and dine at before they close for the season... usually just before the start of winter. So hurry up and taste, munch and dine at these establishments. We have also listed some new additions to the REVUE, some along the Atlantic shore line on the way to Cape Cod.

Scallops Beurre Blanc, Panzarotti, Seafood Fra Diavolo, Shrimp, Clams, Mussels Neapolitan...
can satisfy your taste for Italian fare along your journey to the outer Cape. SERANA'S is located conveniently on Route 6 , South Wellfleet for over 20 years and I must say the Scallops are Wellfleets finest , broiled with lemon-wine and served with beurre blanc (called white butter, a classic sauce, shallots simmered in wine vinegar, reduces to a tart essence; then butter is whisked in). You must try Serenas world famous seafood fra diavolo (very spicy) with mussels, little necks, Wellfleet oysters, scrod, sea scallops, squid and jumbo shrimp served in a marinara sauce. The accompaniment of the Panzarotti is just right for soaking up the sauce, this is folded focaccia bread, stuffed with fresh tomato, cheese and basil. Opened from May to November, serving dinner only. (508) 349-9370

Rack of Lamb, Prime Rib, Roast Chicken, Roast Leg of Lamb, Lobster Lasagna.....
adds up to traditional fare at this 50 year old restaurant, CAPTAIN WILLIAMS HOUSE in Dennisport. The Lobster Lasagna will be back on the menu next Spring.....mouthwatering until then....for the chunks of lobster meat, lobster sauce, fresh spinach and ricotta cheese layered between fresh pasta served atop tomato basil coulis (pureed sauce). Roasted chicken filled with fresh spinach, prosciutto , mozzarella, sun-dried tomato and served with a red wine sauce. You will enjoy the polenta served with the Roast Leg of Lamb entree, and the sides of tomato fondue served with a red wine sauce. Return to enjoy the Rack of Lamb, a real treat. Opened from early Spring to November. Dinner Only. (508) 398-3910

Linguine with Baby Artichokes, Gorgonzola Crusted Tenderloin of Beef, Black Pepper Couscous Crusted Native Tuna, Paella...
are just a sample of the 20 or so entrees at the TWO TURTLES RESTAURANT in the historic Chatham Town House built in 1881. The Linguine is accompanied with pancetta, black olives, roasted garlic and fresh picked herbs from their garden. Save room for the Gorgonzola Crusted Tenderloins, in a merlot sauce with garlic Anna potatoes and sautéed with seasonal vegetables. The Two Turtles Paella is my favorite....sautéed mussels, clams, shrimp, salmon, squid chicken and chorizo (pronounced chor-EE-zoh) a Portuguese sausage , highly seasoned , coarsely ground pork sausage flavored with garlic, chili powder.) sparks the flavor of this house speciality. 0pened Spring till October. Dinner nightly. (508) 945-1234.

By the way.....if you are looking for Portuguese Sausage may I suggest
the NEW BEDFORD LINGUICA CO. on 56 Davis Street, this 75 year old plant has been producing the finest linguica and chorizo for supermarkets throughout the northeast. The brand name Fragozo, can be found in the deli counter. However, they will ship anywhere in USA, vacuum packed (since this a smoked sausage it will keep for a long period.) I have been at the plant to witness the chopped pure pork sausages being prepared for retail sales and can attest to the quality. P.S. Call them at (508) 992-9367

20 Foot Salad Bar, Mediterranean Seafood Seafood Stew, Seafood Diablo, Seafood Angelica, Sole Sensation, Mixed Vegetable Stir Fry, BBQ Ribs, Cappuccino Malt Crunch, Kinky Key Lime Pie...
has me making tracks to UNION STATION RESTAURANT So. Yarmouth. You must try the desserts first! However, I do suggest the Seafood Angelica, fresh schrod, scallops, calamari, sautéed with garlic, shallots, fresh tomatoes, scallions, black olives and artichoke hearts in a white wine butter sauce over angel hair pasta. Radio listeners tell us this entree is sure to please,
Sole Sensation, fresh native sole, stuffed with fresh lobster meat and topped with asparagus and newburg sauce. They all say it, BBQ Ribs with the meat that melts in your mouth, believe me they do.....this restaurant was voted #1 in So. Yarmouth for '94-'95-'96. The desserts: Cappuccino Malt Crunch, chocolate brownie layer cake, with cappuccino cream filling, drenched with a vanilla coffee bean frosting & Heath Bar crunch sprinkles and the Kinky Key Lime Pie, this tart, tangy and refreshing key lime pie and it's graham cracker crust will send your thoughts to sunsets yet to come.
