There isn't a better way to break up a business day than to spend an hour or possibly two, at a favorite Cape Cod restaurant, even if it is only once a week. This column will take you around the Cape to discover and entice you to enjoy a casual lunch with a business acquaintance or just socially. There are hundreds of outstanding restaurants and cafes from the canal to tip of Cape Cod. Here are just a few entrees and establishments to consider this month:

GRILLED CHICKEN PORTABELLA, LOBSTER CAESAR SALAD, GRILLED MARINATED SALMON, SUN DRIED TOMATO AND CHICKEN SALAD
and a perfect view of Hyannis Harbor compliments these luncheon entrees at the Black Cat Restaurant on Ocean Street. My favorite has always been the Grilled Chicken Portabella, a marinated chicken breast topped with Portabella mushrooms and mozzarella cheese, served with a white potato and seasonal vegetables. Lobster lovers on a diet will order the Lobster Caesar Salad, a special blend of herbs and spices ala Caesar and lobster salad. My other suggestions are the Sun Dried Tomato and Chicken Salad, a combination of feta cheese and an orange Balsamic vinegar dressing or the Grilled Marinated Salmon, moist and firm salmon grilled to perfection and served with seasonal vegetables and potato. A very popular burger at the Cat is the Cat's Meow, a combination of onions, mushrooms, bacon and cheese. Small meeting up to 25 can be arranged in the dining room. Open for lunch at 11:30AM. Located on Ocean Street, Hyannis. Lunch Monday through Saturday (508} 778-1233

BEEF WELLINGTON; POLLO RELLANO; BEEF TOSTADA; MEXICAN PIZZA; POACHED SALMON; CHEESE TORTALINI; CORNED BEEF & CABBAGE; SEAFOOD CHOWDER
can only describe the wide and creative menu at the YARDARM RESTAURANT on Route 28 in Orleans. This is truly the melting pot restaurant, a place where every seasoned local arrives after a sabbatical away from the outer Cape. The lunch special entrees are varied each day, with a good old fashion creative touch of home cooking. The Corn Beef & Cabbage is a winner, the vegetables are cooked separately so that the entire entree isn't overburdened with salt. Menu items include favorite Mexican entrees which will appease any hardy appetite. Great desserts too! The triple layer chocolate or carrot cake will top off these outstanding entrees. I ate them both! Lunch starts at 11:30 served till 3PM (508) 255-4840

SWEET PEA'S; SEAFOOD KABOB; PASTA IMPERIAL; SEAFOOD STIR FRY
as the menu entrees go on and on at Wimpy's on Main Street in Osterville. This establishment is also attached to their own Fish Market, so seafood should have your palate asking for the Seafood Kabob of shrimp, scallops and swordfish , served over Jasmine rice or the Seafood Stir fry, a combination of shrimp, scallops, lobster, Calamari and fresh vegetables sauteed in a sweet and spicy Thai sauce served with Jasmine rice. Wimpy's has been serving the public since 1938 when it was only a 5 seat hamburger stand. Lunch Monday through Friday (508) 428-6300

BOSTON GLOBE; WASHINGTON POST; USA TODAY; DENVER TRIBUNE; PORTLAND MARINER; CAPE COD TIMES; MIAMI HERALD
>yes these are newspapers names but you can read these and eat them too at the Center Street News Cafe in downtown Hyannis. Just read these headline sandwiches, Miami Herald, lobster , crab meat and shrimp served on a toasted baguette topped with bacon sorbise with melted cheese and hollandaise sauce. Or you may want to read and eat the Boston Globe, grilled roasted Turkey, cole slaw, Swiss cheese with Russian dressing on rye bread. The favorite seems to be the Cape Cod Times, fresh Codfish, fried English style, served on a bulkie with lettuce and tomato. The Cafe is a novel idea, having patrons serve themselves, pick up a newspaper, read and eat at your leisure. The coffees are exceptional, Brazilian blends, Espresso and Cappuccino. Open for breakfast and lunch. Monday through Saturday (508) 778-5900

TOMATO OMELET, KANGAROO OMELET, IRISH EGGS BENEDICT, MIXED BAG, SADDLE BAG, GROCERY BAG
describes some of the menu items found at the Brown Bag Restaurant in Orleans. My find happened to be the Irish Eggs Benedict, English muffins covered with corned beef hash, melted cheddar and two poached eggs and I had to try the Munchkin... English muffins covered with sauteed mushrooms and sprouts, topped with two poached eggs dripping with melted cheese. Not only breakfast made the hit... you have sit around for lunch too and view the local color.. then visit the Bakery for just a snack of fresh pies, and bread puddings. (P.S. You can speak Italian in this hideaway) Find this special find on West Road, Orleans. Lunch Monday through Saturday (508) 255-4431.

GRILLED QUAHOG CAKES, SEAFOODCHOWDER, BAKED OYSTERS AUGRATIN, SEAFOOD FETTUCINI
and 30 more entrees can be sampled at this 'out of the way' eatery known as the Kettle Ho in Cotuit. Since 1915 a coffee shop... the 60's transformed into a breakfast and lunch restaurant. And now 36 years later, you can stay for all your daily meals, including dinner. Local, as local can be with a "cup of gossip" to help you digest some great foods. Must try is the grilled quahog cakes as an appetizer... then to the dinner choice... Seafood Fettucini... with lobster, scallops, shrimp and crab in a garlic cream sauce. Remember you're on vacation... so the calories don't count. Do look up at the five color pastel tin ceilings and some artifacts made by old Cotuitites. Lunch Monday through Saturday (508) 428-1862

CHATHAM BROILED, BAKED, FRIED SCROD; BOILED LOBSTERS,STEAMERS, FRIED OR BROILED SCALLOPS, FRIED CLAMS, CALAMARI, OYSTERS,SHRIMP, TUNA, SALMON, RICE PILAF, GREEK RICE PUDDING
This is a small sample of seafood prepared at Golden Boy Seafood, W. Yarmouth located on Route 28 Hyannis/W. Yarmouth line. I have been eating at this establishment since 1975. A good choice for over the counter service restaurant and of utmost importance is the Cholesterol free oils used in all their fried entrees. Many of the Cape Cod Hospital employees frequent this eatery. A must try is the Clam Chowder, which can be packed to go as with all menu items. Side orders, made fresh daily, can compliment any Fish dish. Order the Onion Rings, Greek Salad, Cole Slaw, French Fries. Yes, they do have Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Chicken and Tuna Salads, Turkey Clubs and Lobster Rolls. Do leave some appetite for the Greek Rice Pudding, a special family recipe. Lunch from 11:30AM (508) 771-6232.
